Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend this section be reviewed prior to your first appointment
Your appointment MAY need to be rescheduled if you arrive more than 10 minutes late! Please call!
Q: What is a waxing session like?
A: Once in our comfortable aesthetics room I will go over the paper work and details of your service. We use both hard wax / warm wax and soft wax / strip wax, depending on the procedure and person. Now for the appointment, waxing doesn’t need to be boring, I love to hear your stories and learn about my clients. We are non-judgmental and friendly and enjoy building a relationship with our clients. All you need to do is sit back and relax and enjoy your new smooth skin. Our name is The Wax Room for a reason, we love to wax! (we love girl talk too) We want to be your preferred waxing studio and beauty spa.
Q: How long does my hair need to be to have it removed by waxing?
A: We recommend that you allow the hair to grow to approximately 1/4 inch long for waxing (at least two weeks of growth) and 1/8 inch for sugaring / sugar waxing once available, so that we can properly grab the hair. Hair longer than that is not a problem as we are happy to trim it for you if it needs it.
Q: Why wax?
A: We recommend waxing because it has so many benefits when performed on a regular basis such as slower hair growth, less hair growth, removes top layer of dead skin (exfoliation), long lasting results, fast, smoother skin, and no cutting yourself with razors.
Q: Do I need to do anything to prepare for my waxing session?
A: Come clean if you can (we have wipes if needed) as it makes the whole process go faster, also avoid lotion the day of as it can be oily. It’s best not shave in between waxing sessions, if you garden is over grown we will give it a tidy up before we wax. Lastly be happy and relax, we got this!
Q: What is a Brazilian wax?
A: A Brazilian wax refers to waxing all of the hairs from the top of the labia all the way around to the crack of the tush. Choose this if you want a completely nude style. This is done with hard wax / hot wax. Our French wax is similar to a Brazilian wax except that we leave behind a small neat strip or triangle.
Q: What is a Bikini wax?
A: A Bikini wax is more of a clean up of the hairs that are outside of the bikini line. This will remove all stray hairs that you would see while wearing a bikini.
Q: Should I tweeze in between waxes?
A: We do not recommend tweezing in between your waxes but they are your eyebrows after all!
Q: Do you wax men?
A: Yes, however we do not preform Brazilian waxes on men. There is a slight up charge for men waxing and sugaring.
Q: How old do i need to be to wax?
A: 16yrs old with a parent present.
Q: How often should I wax?
A: It is recommended that you maintain a waxing schedule of every 3-6 weeks for best results. The more frequent you wax the better the results.
Q: Does waxing hurt?
A: Waxing does not hurt as bad as you think. The pain is a fast sting that ends almost immediately. After the first time you’ve been waxed the pain diminishes greatly, and with consistent waxing the pain usually dulls more. It is important to visit a quality wax center for this reason.
Q: How long will the results last?
A: This varies from person to person but usually 4-6 weeks also frequent waxing leads to the hairs growing back thinner and thinner. The more you wax the longer it will last.
Q: Can I wax when I’m on my cycle?
A: Yes, you absolutely can be waxed at this time, however you may notice more discomfort than normal as some women are more sensitive at this time of month due to changes in hormone levels.
Q: What other services do you provide?
A: If you visit our services tab on the menu you will be directed to a full list of our services, some of which include, eyebrow waxing and coloring, individual cluster eyelash extensions, semi permanent eyelash extensions with synthetic mink eyelashes, strip false lashes (with makeup app only), and professional makeup application.
